Fellowship is the highest honor paid by IIDA to its professional members

WASHINGTON — The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) named Judy Pesek and Jim Williamson of Gensler to the prestigious College of Fellows. Admission to the College of Fellows recognizes those whose activities and efforts have benefitted and enhanced IIDA, and whose design work have influenced and enhanced the interior design profession.

Judy, FIIDA, LEED AP, is a regional managing principal in Gensler’s Dallas office. She is dedicated to making the most of her leadership positions. In her 25 years with Gensler, she has been instrumental in growing the business of the D.C., Houston, Charlotte and Dallas offices. And in the 11 years she has served the Dallas office, she helped to guide it to two IIDA Pinnacle Awards, designation as AIA Firm of the Year (2008) and Corporate Citizen of the Year (2012). Judy is also a trusted advisor to such leading corporations as Devon Energy, Marathon Oil Company, Hunt Oil Company, Perot Systems (now Dell), AT&T and Duke Energy with whom she has worked for many years. As an IIDA Fellow, she aspires to mentor the next generation of designers and to continue to use the power of design to effect positive change in the community.

Jim, FIIDA, LEED AP, is a global practice leader for workplace and principal in Gensler’s Washington, D.C. office. A creative and pragmatic workplace strategist with more than 23 years of experience, Jim is a past president of the IIDA Mid-Atlantic Chapter, and, as president of the International Board, has employed his vast industry experience and long-term client relationships to position IIDA, its members and the interior design profession for a robust future. Jim also participates on the Design Leadership Council (DLC), a collaboration of interior design and architecture principals from the D.C. Metro Area. He also devotes his time to numerous charitable organizations that benefit the D.C. community. Jim hopes to use his IIDA Fellowship to continue to serve IIDA and to further the interior design profession.

“The College of Fellows is honored to receive these proven leaders in the profession,” said Peggy Noakes, FIIDA, IIDA College of Fellows Chair. “Their outstanding dedication, the exemplary standard of their work and their achievements in the field speak to their commitment to interior design and to the goals of IIDA.”

Judy and Jim will be inducted into the IIDA College of Fellows with Barbara Dellinger of HDR Inc., at the IIDA Annual Meeting, Sunday, June 9, 2013, at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. Please visit for more information.
