Award recognizes notable achievements in design, service and education.

HOUSTON — Gensler’s South Central Region was recently named the recipient of the 2015 Texas Society of Architects (TSA) Architecture Firm Award. The award recognizes architectural firms in Texas with notable contributions to the profession including achievements in design, community service and education.
“Winning this recognition from the Texas Society of Architects is a great testament to the quality of our people and our projects and the value we create for our clients,” said Regional Managing Principal David Calkins. “It is all the more precious to us because it is a recognition of the excellence of our work across Texas from all three of our offices. Judy Pesek [Regional Managing Principal] and I are honored to lead such a talented team.”
Gensler’s Houston office was established in 1972, followed by Dallas in 1997 and Austin in 2007. Gensler employs more than 600 people in Texas. Some of the region’s recent notable projects include Southwestern Energy Headquarters and Totally Carpet in Houston, The Star in Frisco and Hilti USA Headquarters in Plano, and The Domain and Balfour Beatty’s office in Austin.
The award recognizes Gensler’s impact on the industry and also the community. Gensler has been committed to a number of community efforts, including the MS 150 Bike Ride benefitting Multiple Sclerosis research and the Children’s Assessment Center in Houston; the Summer Leadership Academy at Harllee Elementary School and the Boys and Girls’ Club in Dallas; and the Austin Resource Center for the Homeless and ACE Mentor program in Austin; as well as other nonprofit organizations.
