Telecommunications Company

San Ramon, California

After evaluating its upcoming lease expirations, this global telecommunications company commissioned Gensler to conduct an occupancy study of its regional portfolio of properties – more than three million square feet of leased and owned space. Utilizing its full-service space and occupancy management platform Wisp™, Gensler’s findings revealed significant inefficiencies in space usage, leading to a four-phase consolidation into an existing, underutilized facility. Gensler used Wisp’s stacking and scenarios tools to prepare for the move. In the first phase of implementation, the client’s portfolio was reduced by 370,000-square-feet and vacancy was reduced from 40 percent to 15 percent, translating into a $14.4 million savings in operating costs and leading to additional consolidations of the company’s various offices worldwide.
