Gensler D.C. Makes Senior Hire in Sports Practice
Ryan Sickman to serve as a director of sports focused on the growth of collegiate and professional sports venue projects.
WASHINGTON – Gensler’s Washington, D.C., office announced that Ryan Sickman, PE, LEED® AP, joined the firm to continue growing its sports practice. Sickman will serve as a director of sports with a focus on collegiate opportunities.
“We are excited to welcome Ryan as a valuable addition to our team,” said Jordan Goldstein, principal and co-managing director of Gensler Washington, D.C. “His portfolio of stadium projects, many of which he has directed from the design process through completion, will be an additional asset to Gensler’s thriving sports practice.”
Previously with AECOM and Populous, Sickman worked on the TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minn., as well as KeyArena in Seattle, Wash. Sickman also has experience with many colleges and universities, including Pennsylvania State University, University of Virginia, Villanova University, University of South Carolina, University of North Carolina, and University of California Los Angeles.
Ryan joins Gensler at a time when its Washington, D.C., office is capitalizing on significant opportunities in the sports sector. It recently completed the design of the 36,000-seat La Rinconada stadium, the national baseball stadium of Venezuela. The firm’s sports practice was also an integral member of the Washington 2024 Olympic bid, playing a key role in developing the plan for all Olympic sports venues in the D.C. metro area. Past work by Gensler’s D.C. team also includes the renovation of George Washington University’s Smith Center.
