Gensler’s Chris Mundell Selected as 2017 LEED Fellow
LEED Fellows are recognized as the best in green building design, engineering and development
[DALLAS, TX] – (October 17, 2017) – Gensler is proud to announce that Chris Mundell, Associate at Gensler Dallas, has been named a 2017 LEED Fellow by the Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI). Chris Mundell is the sixth LEED Fellow in Dallas, and one of only 13 in the state of Texas.
This year’s 23 Fellows are being honored for their outstanding work as LEED Professionals and for the significance of their contributions to the green building community and LEED, which stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, the world’s most widely used green building rating system. LEED Fellows are recognized as the most exceptional professionals in the green building industry, and it is the most prestigious designation awarded from GBCI.
“We are honored and proud to have Chris Mundell as one of this year’s LEED Fellows,” said Mahesh Ramanujam, president and CEO of GBCI and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). “Chris has shown superb leadership as a green building advocate and has continued to help shift the norm of how the industry plans and builds sustainably. His work and credibility in the industry has been proven time and time again by his outstanding leadership in the green building movement, and motivates all of us to continue the charge forward in creating sustainable, healthy and connected communities through the built environment.”
To be selected, LEED Fellows are nominated by their peers, must have at least 10 years of exceptional impact in the green building industry, hold a LEED AP with specialty credential and undergo an extensive portfolio review, among other requirements. The evaluation process is carried out by the LEED Fellow evaluation committee.
Chris Mundell has been involved in the sustainability services for 24 LEED certified projects, including three platinum certified projects. Currently he is working on high profile projects such as the Dallas County Records Building and Legacy West Mixed Use Development.
“While I was studying for my LEED AP exam in 2006, I began to understand that, as an architect, I could have a major impact on the environment,” Mundell said. “It wasn’t just that I could create a better space or building myself, it was more that I could educate our clients, design consultants, and the construction team to develop more sustainable projects.”
The recipients will be honored at the 2017 USGBC Leadership Awards Luncheon at the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo taking place Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017 in Boston. The nomination period for the 2018 LEED Fellows class will open in February 2018. For more information about the LEED Fellow program and LEED credentialing, visit usgbc.org/credentials.
