Hiro Aso Elected as Mayor’s Design Advocate

LONDON  Gensler is proud to announce that Hiro Aso has been announced as one of 50 Design Advocates, selected by the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, to work with City Hall and councils to support the Mayor’s development ambitions across London and to help realise his vision of London as a city that is socially and economically inclusive as well as environmentally sustainable.

Launching his Good Growth by Design programme on 10 July, the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, pledged to enhance the design of buildings and neighbourhoods for all Londoners. In a major speech at the London School of Economics, the Mayor spoke of his vision for the future of London as the city’s population heads towards 10 million people.

To support the Mayor’s ambitions, his selected Design Advocates will work with City Hall and councils on the programme. The advocates  half whom are women and a quarter who are BAME  include celebrated architects Sir David Adjaye OBE and Sadie Morgan, as well as influential fashion designer Wayne Hemingway MBE. This advocacy role recognises Hiro’s achievements as an architect and his contribution to the profession and to society.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: “I am delighted to welcome my talented team of Design Advocates who will be working with me to realise my vision for London as an inclusive city where growth brings benefits to communities.
