Eastwood Kindergarten

Lusail Planned City, Qatar

A sister project to the Gensler-designed Eastwood Academy, Eastwood Kindergarten is an eco-friendly haven for learning and exploration. Like the Academy and Eastwood College’s home campus in Beirut, the kindergarten is part of a tightly knit community guided by a sense of family. The building echoes the vernacular Arabic style of souk – a typical market. Set on a commercial street, the school is discreetly sited behind an inviting, shaded covered walkway. From the exterior, classrooms appear as distinct boxes, easily distinguishable by students, but are actually connected via shaded common areas where light filters in through canopies and roof openings, connecting students to nature at every turn.
