Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, Vermont Corridor

Los Angeles, California

Home to more than a million square feet of Los Angeles County-owned and -leased office space, the Vermont Corridor is an innovative public-private partnership that will transform a two-block area of once neglected County resources into a modern complex expected to revitalize the community. The first of three projects is the new Gensler-designed Department of Mental Health headquarters. The 21-story glass structure, fast-tracked to expedite eliminating community blight, features a parking podium with street-level lobby and retail, an amenity deck, and a connecting bridge to an adjacent garage. Future phases anticipate affordable and senior housing.
