The Moffitt Library Renovation reinvents an active place for critical thought and learning for today’s digital era. Two floors are transformed into distinctive, tech-friendly places for learning — one for collaborative, participatory studying and the other for concentration and focus. Both are equipped with technology and access to data and power. Integrating wellness into the space means 24/7 access, the option of sitting or standing at a computer, places to meditate and nap, both solitary and collaborative work spaces, and coffee and solid fuel close at hand. The project also addresses a new policy that requires gender-inclusive restrooms alongside traditional restrooms. Taken together, the design creates a library experience for today’s progressive students.
