Center on Halsted

Center on Halsted is the Midwest’s most comprehensive community center dedicated to advancing community and securing the health and well-being of local lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) people. Located in the heart of Chicago’s Lakeview Neighborhood, this environmentally sustainable community center’s block-long street face combines preservation of a handsome commercial building with a glass-walled addition that showcases the vibrant activities inside while also symbolizing openness in sexual and gender identity. Certified LEED® Silver, the building houses a host of social, performance, and education spaces.
