Palihotel Seattle

The iconic Colonnade Hotel building has been revitalized. Gensler leveraged our local expertise and historical renovation experience to preserve the facade while renovating the century-old building into a modern hotel. Gensler, the owner, and historic consultants worked to adapt the design to obtain city landmark status and inclusion on the National Registry of Historic Places. Our team completed early feasibility studies with recommendations on the rooms, retail, and restaurant layouts. Gensler partnered with Palisociety to design exterior awnings, an entrance canopy, and storefronts. Heavy timber framing was exposed and skylights were expanded to their original size. Gensler also worked with the owner’s team to design the restaurant and sidewalk-accessible coffee bar.
