Dual-Brand voco Holiday Inn

Chicago, Illinois

Gensler was hired for a Property Improvement Plan (PIP) to transform the existing Holiday Inn Hotel into a new, dual-brand voco and Holiday Inn. Imagined as a reflection of the city of Chicago, its water, its architecture, and its industry, the recently delivered, 521-key Wolf Point hotel sits at the “Y” intersection of the Chicago River, running east, south, and northwest with unparalleled views of the city, river, and lake.

Holiday Inn guestrooms showcase the brand’s newest prototype design, which ties beautifully with the voco-designed public spaces. As IHG’s newest upscale lifestyle brand, voco comes to life in the lobby with warm woods and color blocking at the check-in desk, allowing the two brands to live harmoniously, immediately adjacent to each other. The goal was to energize the atrium space and develop a design narrative that connects guestrooms, guest corridors, and public areas together into one complete design story.
