Gensler uses a collaborative model of senior leadership. Our Board of Directors sets overall strategy and policy. Executive Directors Andy Cohen, David Gensler and Diane Hoskins run the firm, working with and through our Management Committee. Together, they direct and integrate our practices, offices, and design and delivery teams to serve our clients effectively on a global, 24/7 basis. 

Behind each client is a worldwide network of architects, designers, planners and consultants led by 184 Principals in 41 locations, a firm with an international reputation for innovative design, superb delivery, and efficient management of its teams and projects.

Andy Cohen

Title: Executive Director

Andy Cohen is a champion of design excellence at Gensler, and a mentor to the design leadership of our practices and offices. As an Executive Director, he oversees initiatives related to design, client development and strategic growth. He's also the Regional Managing Principal for the Southwest, including our offices in Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Newport Beach, Phoenix and San Diego. In that role, he helped build Gensler's airport, entertainment, hospitality and mixed-use practices. An architect, he is a graduate of Pratt Institute and Fellow of the American Institute of Architects.

Diane Hoskins

Title: Executive Director

Diane Hoskins oversees Gensler's practices and professional development, focusing on learning, recruiting, and career development to ensure that we will always have the expertise and talent to serve our clients effectively across our markets. She is our Regional Managing Principal for the Southeast, including our offices in Atlanta, Baltimore, Charlotte, Tampa and Washington, D.C. An architect and LEED-accredited professional, she graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has an MBA from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA. She received an Outstanding Impact Award from the Council of Real Estate Women, and is a Regent of the American Architectural Foundation and a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects.

David Gensler

Title: Executive Director

David Gensler oversees Gensler's performance as a business enterprise, focusing on the strategy and policy issues that come with our being a leading global design firm. He directs our Firmwide Resources Group, which includes communications and marketing, finance, human resources, risk management, and technology support and development. In addition, he oversees the firm's Asia and European practices in conjunction with the Managing Principals of those regions. A former Gensler Regional Managing Principal for Europe and LEED-accredited professional, he worked as an investment banker and management consultant before joining the firm. An economics graduate of Dartmouth College, his MBA is from Stanford University's Graduate School of Business.

Ray serves as a Regional Managing Principal for Asia, directing our operations in Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore and Tokyo. Prior to joining Gensler nearly two decades ago, Ray designed for several New York firms, gaining expertise across a range of projects, from retail prototype store designs to hospitality, office building and entertainment venues. Well-versed in all phases of the design process, from concept design to construction supervision, Ray played a crucial role in establishing Gensler’s automotive retail design group, overseeing the design and roll-out implementation of literally hundreds of dealerships for the world’s largest manufacturers. He’s parlayed his ability to launch practices and bridge cultures — having been a studio leader between our San Francisco and Shanghai offices — to help the firm serve the demands of an increasingly global-focused client base.

Andy’s helped build Gensler’s airport, entertainment, hospitality, mixed-use and sports practices. An architect, he is a graduate of Pratt Institute and Fellow of the American Institute of Architects.

Joe is a Regional Managing Principal for the Northeast, directing our offices in Boston, Morristown, New York, Pittsburgh, Toronto, San José, Costa Rica and São Paulo, Brazil. He has cultivated many trusted relationships amongst the design, construction and real estate communities, encouraging an integrated delivery approach. Joe leads a number of Gensler’s global accounts and developer relationships and has shaped Gensler’s gConnect program, which focuses on the professional network development of our young leaders. He serves on the Board of CoreNet Global New York Chapter and the AIA New York Chapter Finance Committee. A strong community supporter, Joe’s on the Special Events Committee of the Association for the Help of Retarded Children, the Event Chair for the St Francis Food Pantries and the YMCA of Greater New York Council.

Title: Board of Directors, Chair

Dan is a Regional Managing Principal for Gensler’s Pacific Northwest and Asian offices. In this capacity, he directs our design practices in Bangalore, Beijing, Hong Kong, San Francisco, San Jose, San Ramon, Seattle, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore and Tokyo. His 30-year career reflects his passion for responsible planning and international business leadership. In addition to lecturing internationally on “Creating Livable Cities,” Dan has provided resources to the San Francisco Mayor’s Green Building Task Force, a committee that advises civic agencies on the construction of sustainably designed buildings. Dan is a member of CoreNet and the Urban Land Institute. He sits on the Bay Area Junior Achievement board, for which he actively participates in fundraising and events. Dan is a graduate in architecture of Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Michigan and holds an MBA from the University of Michigan.

Ken is a Regional Managing Principal of Gensler’s Firmwide Resources, which is responsible for the shared operational platform of the firm’s global practice. His professional passion is the intersection of design innovation and digital technology; and he is a frequent speaker at international design technology conferences and forums. In 1996, Ken authored “The Digital Architect,” a book published by Wiley & Sons that won a Citation for Excellence in International Book Publishing from the American Institute of Architects. Prior to joining Gensler in 2001, Ken was a partner with Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Partnership. He is a graduate of UC Berkeley, a member of the Executive Board of the Design Futures Council and a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects.

Chris is Gensler’s Regional Managing Principal for the Middle East, Europe and North Africa. Chris collaborates with a global team of specialists dedicated to fostering design excellence across the firm. His work focuses on creating sustainable design solutions that elevate the spirit and balance high performance functionality with operational soundness. In addition to participating in design awards jury panels, he is a keen advocate for the value of design in the PFI process, frequently speaking at PFI Forums in the United Kingdom. Chris directed the creative teams behind the designs for the Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) in Cheltenham, England; the Manchester Magistrates’ Courts; and the Gate Building for the Dubai International Financial Centre, home of the Dubai Stock Exchange.

Robin is a Regional Managing Principal for Gensler’s Northeast offices. She has responsibility for our offices in Boston, Morristown, New York, Pittsburgh, Toronto, San José, Costa Rica and São Paulo, Brazil. Robin also serves as Chair of the Board’s Executive Committee. During her career, Robin has guided the largest and most respected international corporations, financial institutions and law firms through headquarters project development. Her award-winning work has featured in numerous international design publications. Robin served on the National Board of the International Interior Design Association. She is a member of the National Board of Girls Inc., the Advisory Board of the NY School of Interior Design and a Trustee Emeritus of the Dwight Englewood School. Robin also serves as Board Member of the Gensler Foundation. She is an active alumna of the University of Tennessee School of Architecture and Design.

Julia is a Principal and Managing Director for Gensler’s New York office. Having directed Gensler’s global professional services firms practice, she provides expertise in strategic planning and pre-lease services on workplace and headquarters projects for clients in professional services, financial services and creative media. Julia’s versatile background in programming, design and implementation has been honed over many projects ranging from private offices to multimillion-square-foot corporate facilities. A strong advocate for design that supports clients’ business and culture, her project work has appeared in Architectural Record, Businessweek and Interior Design. Serving on Gensler’s Management Committee, she oversees our Client Relationships groups and focuses on the firm’s emerging leadership program. Girls Inc. has recognized her contributions to architecture and design; and she is involved in supporting Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, building a Bronx food pantry, and the Tuxedo Park Board of Architectural Review. Julia holds a B.A. in interior design from the University of Iowa.
