Joseph Lauro, FAIA, CDT, LEED AP, RA

As Co-Managing Director of Gensler’s New York office and a member of the firm’s Board of Directors, Joe Lauro’s leadership has strengthened internal technical processes, enhanced the firmwide architectural practice, and advanced the firm’s climate action efforts.

As one of the first LEED Accredited Professionals in the New York office, Joe has motivated his clients and colleagues to adopt more ambitious sustainability goals for decades. Joe is a key originator of the firm’s GC3 initiative, which is Gensler’s industry-wide challenge to reduce carbon emissions by 2030.

Throughout his career of over three decades, Joe has proven himself a tireless community advocate. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for the New York Building Congress and is a Co-Chair of the organization’s Energy & Sustainability Committee. He is a Fellow in the AIA, a member of Urban Design Forum, Urban Land Institute (ULI), and U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). Joe also serves on the National board of directors and executive committee for ACE Mentor Program National, is a founding board member of Make-A-Wish NY Real Estate Council, and is a board member of Salvadori Center, focusing on STEAM programs in underserved communities, reflecting his commitment to diversifying the pipeline of young architects into the profession.
