IMC Headquarters

Raleigh, North Carolina

Investors Management Corporation, a boutique Raleigh-based investment firm, engaged Gensler to convert a 16,000-square-foot storage facility into its new workspace. The Gensler team saw an opportunity to re-envision what a headquarters can be and to reinvigorate not only the warehouse, but the surrounding neighborhood too. The design team harnessed the building’s hilltop location overlooking downtown Raleigh and let the site drive the layout. By embracing the existing building fabric — the exposed steel structure and raw brick — and then inserting glazed openings to fill the shell with natural light, the design introduces a new architectural language and creates a fluid connection between interior and exterior.
