Westin Phoenix

Phoenix, Arizona

Originally planned as a speculative office building, the facility underwent a major functional shift to hotel in light of the radical downturn of Phoenix’s commercial real estate market. Design challenges for the 278-key hotel included nontraditional floor plates, limited guest access and neighbors’ separation requirements. A courtyard leading to the private hotel lobby provides an arrival sequence that transports guests from the intense Arizona heat into a cool, contemporary hospitality experience. The unusual floor plates yield unique amenities, including large corner king and hospitality suites that connect directly to meeting rooms, providing an option for business travelers who customarily have stayed outside the city.
