Mauricio Valenzuela

Mauricio is a Design Director and Principal in Gensler’s Costa Rica office, where he leads the design vision for hospitality and luxury projects across Latin America. He also serves as a Regional Design Leader for Latin America and the Caribbean. With a career that bridges independent practice and leadership within a global firm, he is a key voice shaping the evolution of design in the region — bringing together creative excellence, technological innovation, and climate responsibility.

At Gensler, Mauricio has led multidisciplinary teams on ultra-luxury resorts, branded residences, and master plans across Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as in Africa and Asia. His approach combines craft and material rigor with deep sensitivity to local context and climate-resilient strategies, championing mass timber, low-carbon materials, and regenerative landscapes.

As a Regional Design Leader, he drives cultural transformation through the adoption of AI and innovative design processes.
