Michael Adkins

Based in Denver, Michael is a Strategy Leader for Gensler’s Southwest region. As a former Naval Officer and member of the Obama Administration, he is passionate about public service and believes that government employees should have high-performing workplaces that provide the best tools and resources to deliver their work of serving the public. His approach is rooted in curiosity and empathy as he balances visionary ideals with realistic guardrails. With over 20 years of diverse experience, his leadership and design background has positioned him uniquely to lead large and complex projects with an emphasis on strategic planning and workplace analysis.

Michael holds a Bachelor’s in Political Science with a Masters of Fine Arts in Interior Design with Honors from Pratt Institute, where he contributes as a guest critic. His project work has received numerous awards and accolades, including recognition by the federal government, industry platform such as NeoCon, and within Gensler. He is a member of the Society of American Military Engineers.
