Tom Ito, FAIA, LEED AP

Hospitality Leader, Principal

Tom launched Gensler’s Hospitality practice in the late 1990s with the celebrated renovation of the Beverly Hills Hotel. He has since expanded the practice to an international scale, while providing overall direction for hospitality projects — assuring sustainable design, innovation, and strong client service. His well-rounded experience as a designer, architect, and strategic thinker gives him a comprehensive understanding for complex hotel projects with clients throughout the Americas, Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Tom continues to lead Gensler’s global Hospitality practice, spearheading notable projects such as the 18-million-square-foot CityCenter development on the Las Vegas Strip, and the Westin Denver International Airport — the first LEED Platinum major U.S. airport hotel. Other projects include AC/Moxy Downtown LA, The Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, Fairmont Hotel and Residences at Century City, and Yaamava Resort and Casino Interiors. Tom is currently working on design for Hard Rock Greece and the Ayana Resort in Bali.

Tom is a Registered Architect and was elected to join AIA’s College of Fellows in 2016. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture at the University of Southern California.
