1333 H Street Repositioning

1333 H Street transforms our perceptions of the past by re-envisioning the identity of a contemporary trophy office building. The design highlights its relationship to the National Register 1913 Continental Trust Building it shares its lot with. Unchanged for 30 years, the facade and lobby of this project afforded the design team a chance to elevate the presence of both new and old through dialogue. The contemporary addition stands to the east of the historic landmark at the corner of a prominent intersection in downtown D.C. The repositioning of 1333 H Street highlights an urban landmark by pairing it with a contemporary design of complimentary massing, materiality, and patterning. This concept carries into the lobby and amenity programming, structured to unify past and present.
