Acknowledging the need for a significant workplace upgrade, this premier Chicago law firm embarked on a bold workplace transformation that felt like a relocation without changing address. The design tackles challenges posed by the building’s 1980s core and lower ceiling heights through the strategic use of glass facades and reflective materials. This approach creates the illusion of expanded client-facing spaces, providing increased transparency while also flooding the space with abundant natural light.

Two utilitarian rooftop spaces are transformed into sophisticated terraces, seamlessly integrating the interior office with new outdoor spaces for both work and leisure. Adjacent to the building lobby, a speakeasy-style lounge serves as a versatile social hub, fostering connection by day and evening. The redesign reflects the firm’s entrepreneurial spirit, collaborative culture, and holistic focus on light, air, and openness, balancing its legacy with a modern, forward-thinking workplace.
