Glumac Shanghai

Shanghai, China

The commitment of this global engineering leader to the environment and sustainability is palpable throughout its Shanghai office. Gensler designed Glumac’s new, open-plan workspace to have a bright and biophilic atmosphere. Advanced air purification systems report both outdoor and indoor air quality in real time, and a living green wall helps purify the air. Tables, chairs and even carpet are fashioned from recycled materials. Radiant floor heating, rooftop PVC panels, individual water and electrical meters and composting toilets further convey Glumac’s ethos. Achieving LEED® v4 Platinum certification, the offices were completed with a zero-carbon footprint and are pursuing certification as Asia’s first Living Building Challenge (LBC) project.
