The 751 Griswold Headquarters is located within a 100-year-old, iconic building in Detroit that sat empty for nearly 20 years. The new headquarters is a hub for seven locations of a family business. The interior renovation restored and revitalized the building to create a new landmark in the city. As many of the historic features as possible were restored, including a plaster ceiling, historic staircase, and vaults in the basement. The design of the headquarters began with a unique approach of partnering with architecture and design firms across the state, and the client’s own internal design team, to brainstorm what a great headquarters could be. This truly collaborative design process resulted in an office that honors the past but also creates an efficient, forward-thinking space that works for the owner’s teams and partners, now, and into the future.
