Milwaukee Bucks
Entertainment District

Milwaukee, Wisconsin

The Milwaukee Bucks Entertainment District, also known as ‘Deer District,’ is an indoor-outdoor sports, retail, and entertainment destination, anchored by an interactive public plaza that serves as the city’s new “living room.” In 2021, basketball fans gathered in the Deer District to support the Milwaukee Bucks on their run to the NBA Championship and experience the bustling hub of excitement and energy. Designed by Gensler, the mixed-use downtown development project includes a 2.3-acre public plaza, three buildings activated by retail and entertainment tenants, and an all-seasons beer garden with a semi-covered canopy.

The plaza features modern design elements and materials that pay homage to Milwaukee’s industrial heritage, paired with public spaces landscaped with native trees and plantings, as well as public art, an interactive water feature, and a flexible gathering area that hosts festivals and events year-round. The beer garden draws both large and small crowds, activating the pedestrian connector that links the entertainment district to the surrounding neighborhood.
