Confidential Resources Company Pilot Floor

This ‘Pilot Floor’ project was created for a pioneering resources company known for pushing the boundaries of sustainable innovation. The journey began with a three-month workplace strategy engagement, where the organisation asked a bold question: Who do we want to be? This period of reflection came at a critical moment — amid global uncertainty — and informed decisions around a 10-year lease that would shape the future of their work environment.

Gensler’s strategy and design team transformed a conventional office into a dynamic, human-centered space that embodies the company’s core values: sustainability, innovation, and wellness. Every element of the design was chosen to reflect these principles. The layout supports both physical equity and neurodiversity, offering flexibility for a constantly evolving digital world. Employees are empowered with autonomy, supported by a thoughtful mix of collaborative and focused environments. Vibrant, jewel-toned collaboration zones invite connection and creativity, while calm, neutral-toned focus areas provide visual clarity for deep work. Metallic accents — woven subtly throughout the space like mineral veins — nod to the company’s roots in resource extraction, grounding the futuristic design in its heritage.

A biophilic pathway meanders through work and social areas, offering restorative moments between destinations. This strategic pilot floor now serves as a blueprint for the company’s next chapter, laying the groundwork for sustainable scaling — potentially reducing over 1.6 million kilograms of CO₂e across 115,000 square feet of future renovations. This project isn’t just a workplace it’s a vision for what work can be.
