Sotheby’s Hong Kong Office

Hong Kong, China

After more than a decade, this Sotheby’s relocated its APAC headquarters to Hong Kong, and Gensler was tasked with creating a dynamic workplace that enhances staff experience, fosters professional and social synergy, and supports the client’s business growth. The new office spans four interconnected floors, featuring a central staircase designed to foster connectivity. Gensler’s holistic design approach drew inspiration from the client’s rich history and deep appreciation for the arts. The design follows a Noces Vegetal concept that represents the union of art and nature, depicted through soft, flowing contours, expressions of nature, and subtle suggestions of the client’s brand across the open floors. On the client-facing level, various amenities support external engagement and visitor satisfaction. The flow from the boardroom to the video production room, library, cataloging, and extensive storage spaces ensures the secure handling of valuable goods. At the base of the staircase is a tranquil pebble garden surrounded by a cozy seating area and a pantry. Fluted veneer panels with linear lights clad the sides of the staircase, guiding staff to the floors above.
