The Brooke

Detroit, Michigan

The Brooke on Bagley introduces a mixed-use, mixed-income development that supports ongoing efforts to expand equitable housing in Southwest Detroit. Developed as part of the Strategic Neighborhood Fund, the project contributes to the revitalization of the city’s oldest neighborhood while strengthening connections to emerging civic investments, including Michigan Central Station and the Joe Louis Greenway.

Located at the corner of 16th and Bagley, the development includes 78 residential units and more than 2,100 square feet of ground-floor retail. A portion of the housing is designated as affordable, supporting a diverse resident population. Amenity spaces — including an indoor community lounge, outdoor gathering areas, and curated public art — extend beyond the building to foster interaction and shared use.

Community engagement played a central role in shaping the project, informing spaces that are accessible to both residents and local organizations. The result is a neighborhood-focused development that enhances access to quality housing while creating opportunities for connection, activity, and long-term growth.
