Whole Foods Market Headquarters

Whole Foods Market’s 140,000-square-foot office building is an addition to its amenity-rich urban campus in Austin. Drawing inspiration from Whole Foods Market’s mission to Nourish People and the Planet, the project creates a dynamic workplace that supports the company’s culture of innovation, creates unique experiences that engage the senses, and infuses delight into the community.

The building design draws inspiration from nature and Shoal Creek, which runs along the east side of the building. The creek’s contours and natural forms are emulated in the building’s fluid lines and warm tones, as if it were a natural extension of the creek. The space has a more than 90% open plan, offers extensive access to the outdoors and natural daylight, and prioritizes views of Shoal Creek. Activated hubs are strategically placed to encourage social engagement and collaboration. The campus also includes a work café, outdoor terraces, a retail testing lab, and a fitness center.

Whole Foods Market’s new home prioritizes sustainability through the use of materials with recycled content, low embodied carbon carpeting, locally sourced and stocked materials, and biophilic elements.
