Gensler Honored as 2025 Recipient of the National Building Museum Honor Award
World’s Leading Architecture and Design Firm Celebrates 60 Years of Transformative Impact at 38th Annual National Building Museum Gala
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Gensler, the world’s most impactful architecture and design firm, is the recipient of the 2025 Honor Award from the National Building Museum. The award was presented at the Museum’s 38th annual gala on June 11, 2025, in recognition of the firm’s extraordinary contributions to shaping the built environment over the past six decades.
Established in 1986, the National Building Museum Honor Award celebrates visionary individuals and organizations whose work has significantly advanced innovation, design excellence, and civic progress in the fields of architecture, engineering, and construction. Past recipients include Major League Baseball and The National Football League, Marriott International, the Urban Land Institute, The Walt Disney Company, and many more.
This year’s recognition marks a milestone for Gensler as it commemorates its 60th anniversary. Since its founding in 1965, the firm has grown into an industry leader on a global scale, with over 6,000 professionals across 57 offices. Gensler’s legacy spans iconic skylines, reimagined workspaces, revitalized cultural institutions, and community-driven urban planning, delivering design solutions that enrich lives and shape cities for the better.
“It is an incredible honor to accept this award from the National Building Museum, celebrating 60 remarkable years of Gensler and everything that this Museum represents,” said Jordan Goldstein, Gensler Co-CEO, who accepted the award alongside Co-CEO Elizabeth Brink, Global Co-Chairs Andy Cohen and Diane Hoskins, and other members of the firm’s board. “This milestone is not just a testament to our longevity, but a celebration of the collective achievements of our industry who share our passion for creating transformative places and spaces.”
“Gensler’s impact isn’t achieved alone; it is shared with our clients, partners, and collaborators who have trusted us with their visions and allowed us to bring them to life,” said Brink. “It is shared with the talented individuals who are part of the Gensler family, contributing their creativity, expertise, and dedication to every project. And it is shared with the broader design and construction community, whose collective efforts continue to push the boundaries of what is possible. We truly believe that design is not a solo art — it’s made richer by the voices of many.”
The National Building Museum’s gala has become one of Washington’s premier cultural events, drawing hundreds of leaders from across architecture, real estate, philanthropy, public policy, and the arts. The annual celebration honors the visionaries driving progress in the way we design and build our world.
“For 60 years, Gensler has helped define how people experience the places where they live, work, and play,” said Aileen Fuchs, President and Executive Director of the National Building Museum. “Their creativity and commitment to people-centered design have had a lasting impact on communities around the globe. We are proud to recognize their leadership in shaping a more connected and equitable built environment.”
Gensler’s portfolio spans every continent and sector, from academic campuses and corporate headquarters to public spaces and entertainment venues. In recent years, the firm has led innovative work in climate resilience, adaptive reuse, and equitable urban planning, helping to guide global conversations about the role of design in a changing world.
