As more companies call employees back to the office, expectations for purposeful, flexible, and collaborative spaces are rising. The challenge lies in designing workplaces that can support productivity and well-being while also fostering a sense of community. CBRE set out to create a headquarters to establish a new benchmark for operational efficiency, community, and connection. The project became a proving ground for new ways of working that blends in-person and remote workstyles.
CBRE’s new global headquarters in Dallas features thoughtfully designed “neighborhoods” that cater to various work styles, from focused individual tasks to dynamic team collaborations. The space supports both in-office and remote interactions by incorporating flexible layouts, advanced technology, and wellness-focused amenities. Gensler collaborated closely with CBRE’s leadership to ensure the design aligns with the company’s culture and operational goals, providing employees with the tools and environments they need to thrive.
The redesign of CBRE’s headquarters has led to increased employee engagement. In-office attendance has increased, as staff have found value in the enhanced collaborative spaces and amenities. This transformation not only improved internal workflows but also positively impacted client interactions. The adaptable design serves as a scalable model for CBRE, demonstrating how thoughtful workplace strategies can successfully support the modern hybrid work paradigm.
