Charlotte Plaza Repositioning

Charlotte, North Carolina

Originally constructed in 1986, the distinct, all-black, glass Charlotte Plaza building is on a prominent and visible city corner in Uptown Charlotte. A key component of the property’s future plan and design is to take advantage of its prime location and create an opportunity for people to engage with the building. No longer just a thoroughfare building, the new design has opportunities for people to spend time at Charlotte Plaza. Lighting the building from within to contrast the darker, reflective exterior, Gensler’s interior renovation is designed to project a new sense of light, with open spaces and gathering places that spark creativity and focused collaboration.
