Gensler Detroit partnered with Détroit Is The New Black (DITNB) to create a versatile retail space — where fashion meets art — in a curated environment that represents the brand’s mission and authentic identity and fosters a sense of community. DITNB is a brand at the crossroads of culture, fashion, and community with a strong pride for Detroit and its people. Gensler translated the client’s vision to create a luxury retail experience with intentional Detroit anchors, creating an iconic, classic retail space with minimalist accents. Gensler’s retail design team provided built-in flexibility that allows the space to double as a community center as well as a store, giving the client full control of the space programming and the ability to activate and transform it into a cafe, retail space, exhibition, or a yoga studio, at any given time.
