Eager Park

Baltimore, Maryland

For both Gensler and partner Mahan Rykiel Associates Landscape Architects, the success of Eager Park rested on designing it with – not for – the community. Our role was actually one of support: there to provide local residents with the tools to take lasting ownership over the design of their park. To that end, Gensler facilitated a number of meetings with residents to help them to effectively program the park. The result is a vibrant public space comprising a performance amphitheater and pavilion, a community garden, open lawn, a wellness circuit and a playground, bridging the divergent communities of Johns Hopkins Medical Campus and the adjacent neighborhood.
