Lupita’s Corner

Los Angeles, California

In partnership with the LA Food Policy Council’s Healthy Neighborhood Market Network program, Gensler Los Angeles helped transform a local neighborhood market, Lupita’s Corner, into a community hub that helps address the issue of food inequity in a bright, modern space that offers nutritious selections. Designed to better serve and support the health of the students and neighbors who visit every day, Lupita’s Corner incorporates historic influences while catering to modern users with healthy offerings. Forming a long-term partnership, Gensler’s design team worked with the owner to translate the desire to create a welcoming, farmer’s market feel on the store exterior and interior, featuring friendly, bright colors and warm wood tones. At the entry, customers are greeted by displays of fresh produce and healthy food choices and are encouraged to enjoy the sunny space, which offers seating and a community board of activities.
