Nestlé USA: Experience Design

Arlington, Virgina

Nestlé USA transformed its culture by moving its headquarters from southern California to Arlington, Virginia. Using a design concept based on food as a social experience, Gensler created an environment where sharing and interaction are paramount. The design employs immersive environmental graphics, archival displays, and interactive digital media to foster memorable shared moments. Motion-sensor-enabled digital displays at each elevator lobby feature Nestlé-inspired content that reacts to passersby, and workplace floors feature central hubs programmed with playful interactive exhibits that encourage staff engagement, such as an Instagram-enabled photography wall designed to echo a kitchen refrigerator decorated with family snapshots and a wall of snack dispensers, which doubles as an impromptu polling tabulator.
