United Airlines Amenity Hub

Chicago, Illinois

The United Airlines Amenity Hub at Willis Tower creates a place for employees to be social, collaborative, and inspired. Gensler was challenged to rethink how the amenity floor at Willis Tower could compel 3,500+ United Airlines employees to physically connect while their teams are scattered throughout the skyscraper and offer an experience that sparks an emotional feeling of being part of something bigger. The new amenity space also further supports the overall transformation of the airline and global brand.

Gensler worked closely with the United team to uncover shared stories that are authentic and meaningful to the United Airlines culture. The space intertwines the vast history of the airline with its future as a connected team. With the entry moment referencing the runway experience, arrival to the Hub feels uniquely United and marks the beginning of a journey. Achieving LEED Silver, the amenity space showcases unique ways to not only implement sustainable design practices but also demonstrate the process behind them. The result is a space for United Airlines’ people to come together and embody the brand’s purpose to connect and unite the world.
