Alzheimer’s Association

Houston, Texas

With the goal of creating a new home that would be an oasis of calm and healing, the Houston and Southeast Texas Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association engaged Gensler for the renovation of its new headquarters. The design team took time to learn about the Association’s mission and services, then designed a new facility to support it into the future. The first floor of the Alzheimer’s Association headquarters is public-focused, with spaces dedicated to the chapter’s services and programs, while administrative activities take place on the second floor. To create a refuge for clients, their families, and staff, ample green and outdoor space is incorporated, including walking paths, a patio, gardens and a fountain. Early-stage clients helped create the paper sculpture that hangs at the bright lobby entrance.
