MOMENT at San Pedro Square

San Jose’s San Pedro Square has long been a draw for locals and visitors alike, but a stretch of its main street was once dominated by a forgotten garage that hindered foot traffic and larger appeal. Seeking to reinvigorate one of the city’s most popular food and entertainment hubs, the San Jose Downtown Association engaged Gensler to repurpose this underutilized parking space into a dynamic, pedestrian-first experience. The ground floor of the structure was converted into MOMENT at San Pedro Square, a community-oriented destination that brings local makers, artists, and entrepreneurs to the streetscape. Consisting of four 400-square-foot spaces and outdoor gathering places, MOMENT reimagines urban street life through micro-retail activation that fuels downtown energy, supports creative small businesses, and strengthens the social fabric of San Jose.
