Rash Field Pavilion

Baltimore, Maryland

Rash Field Pavilion is a civic landmark anchoring the reimagined Rash Field Park on the south side of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. Designed by Gensler in collaboration with landscape architect Mahan Rykiel Associates, the pavilion serves as a community gathering space within a biodiverse, activity‑rich waterfront park that reconnects the city to its harbor. Positioned between the Inner Harbor promenade and the Federal Hill neighborhood, the pavilion negotiates a significant grade change while establishing a welcoming destination.

The elegant white structure provides shelter for outdoor classes, community events, and informal gatherings, and includes a small café that doubles as an indoor classroom for local nature‑focused nonprofits. The pavilion and shade structure act as an emblem of Baltimore’s transition from a manufacturing and industrial powerhouse to a sustainable, forward‑looking city that places renewed value on its most important resource, the waterfront. As part of a revitalization led by the Waterfront Partnership, the pavilion supports education, recreation, and civic pride.
