Coca-Cola Northpoint Experience Tour Brand Design

Houston, Texas

Arca Continental and Coca-Cola South West Bottling (CCSWB) made a major investment in the city of Houston in 2018, opening a state-of-the-art bottling facility that spans one million square feet and invites guests to experience the brand firsthand. As Houstonians commute through the Beltway 8 and Interstate 45 corridor, the prominent ARCA Continental CCSWB logo can easily be spotted, illuminated against the exterior of the bottling plant. A glass box provides unobstructed views into the building’s two-story atrium, which showcases a custom sculptural chandelier crafted from 700 recycled bottles produced within the plant. Each bottle is internally illuminated and uniquely placed to form the 22-foot-tall Coca-Cola Bottle chandelier. Positioned as a beacon for visitors, this unique, upcycled chandelier welcomes the public, inspires a sense of wonder, and reaffirms CCSWB’s commitment to sustainability.

Upon entering the lobby, visitors are greeted by a group of oversized, custom-designed Coca-Cola bottles, each painted by a local artist from the countries where Arca Continental currently operates, including Mexico, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, and the U.S. An adjacent kiosk displays additional information about the company’s broad reach. As visitors advance to the second-floor atrium level, a custom millwork display cabinet highlights ARCA Continental and CCSWBT’s connections to the Houston community and showcases achievements such as the Candler Cup, recognizing the bottling facility as the best Coca-Cola bottler globally in 2019, along with other accolades. The formal tour begins with the gallery’s entry doors featuring graphics inspired by the experience of opening a bottle of Coca-Cola. Expansive graphics and curated moments engage and educate visitors on the significance of this state-of-the-art bottling facility.

The mezzanine level provides onlookers with a transparent view of the bottling plant in operation. The use of large openings strategically paired with five digital vignettes, cleverly display the various bottling processes and physically showcase the brand’s historic artifacts. Adjacent to the process stations, the Lenticular Wall serves as a visual metaphor for the company's “Products Backed by Heroes” messaging. A custom floor-to-ceiling sawtooth structure showcases a mix of products and brands as visitors enter the space while a collage celebrating our diverse communities is displayed on the opposing side at the exit of the tour. Upon leaving the Coca-Cola Northpoint space through its tasting room, visitors are encouraged to indulge in unique Coca-Cola products from around the world. The adjacent exhibit room features historic displays — and the tour wouldn't be complete without a signature selfie wall to capture the experience. The overall experience is designed to showcase the key principles of sustainability, innovation, and a pioneering spirit while giving visitors a unique inside look into the bottling process and celebrating the brand’s heritage.
