Facebook’s Gurgaon space was primarily conceptualized as an interpretation of “developing” Gurgaon (now Gurugram) city, with buildings standing tall amidst small villages. Staggered enclosed spaces with bold color facades are quite a subtle interpretation of the old city houses bursting out in an extremely contemporary set up. The combination of soft and hard flooring with colored patterns on the floor depicts street art and is carried forward onto the walls as graffiti. Exposed concrete flooring, ceiling, wood finish, art installations and the art on walls talk loud on the varied experiences of the city. The undirected layout captures the chaos of the unplanned city while aligning with Facebook’s modus vivendi.
