Nurix Therapeutics Texas

The Woodlands, Texas

CHALLENGE
The Woodlands, Texas, is emerging as a growing life sciences hub for innovation, driven by its proximity to Houston’s renowned medical institutions and a surge in biotech infrastructure investment. With support from local government and private developers, the region is attracting companies like Nurix Therapeutics that seek advanced lab, manufacturing, and collaborative workspaces to accelerate gene therapy and novel drug development.

SOLUTION
Partnering with Gensler, Nurix developed a transparent and adaptable lab environment that showcases state-of-the-art robotics and scientific equipment while promoting safety and collaboration. The design includes wide-module lab spaces with overhead access to utilities for future adaptability, and structural modifications to house a Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectrometer. Adjacent workspaces offer a mix of collaboration zones, private rooms, and open workstations. The space also encourages social connections with a multipurpose break room and a flexible lounge area.

IMPACT
Nurix’s new headquarters successfully blends high-performance lab functionality with a vibrant, inclusive workplace culture. The result is a dynamic, low-carbon workplace that supports scientific innovation and employee wellbeing. Exposed concrete and a palette of minimal materials emphasize sustainability, while natural light and views of the Greenbelt’s tree canopy enhance the environment. The transparent lab-workplace connection enables impromptu collaboration and engagement, while the social spaces foster community and relaxation.
