Challenge

Once dominated by highways, parking lots, and stuffy offices, Boston’s Financial District has evolved into a vibrant neighborhood of parks, retail, and leading business headquarters. Following a recent merger, this heritage firm faced a pivotal moment to unify teams, elevate employee experience, and align the workplace with long-term environmental and operational priorities. The firm challenged Gensler to design a space that attracts top talent while celebrating its culture and historic identity.

Solution

This 225,000-square-foot headquarters spans eight floors, combining the sophistication of a high-end hotel and the energy of a social hub. The design team replaced private offices with open, inclusive spaces featuring touchdown areas, libraries, phone rooms, and huddle spaces. Reception desks on each floor provide welcoming points of connection, while cafés and an in-house IT support hub ensure smooth, hospitality-driven daily operations.

Impact

The new headquarters serves as a cultural anchor and a source of pride for employees. Since moving in, office attendance has increased, and the firm hosts more events that bring teams and clients together. By leading with a hospitality-driven design approach, the firm signals its commitment to the future and to its most valuable asset: its people. The result is an unexpected, dynamic workplace designed for performance and meaningful connections.
