Challenge

After moving their headquarters from Manhattan to Nashville, AB faced the daunting task of relocation and consolidation for their New York operations. They sought to redefine their NYC workplace to create a best-in-class employee experience focused on wellbeing and flexibility while also providing their clients with an unforgettable and immersive experience that communicated the company’s investments in technology and AI.

Solution

AB’s relocation to 66 Hudson Boulevard signals their shift from a traditional workplace culture to a wellness focused, AI-enabled, innovation hub. Leaning on Gensler-driven strategy and insights from past engagements, they opted for open seating where collaboration and mentorship flourish. The “Dreamwall” — an AI-powered art installation that spans more than a city block and features custom algorithms and motion responsive elements — embodies AB’s commitment to artificial intelligence and encourages the creative use of technology.

Impact

Part of a global strategy to shift their real estate footprint to reflect where their business is heading, this relocation re-establishes AB’s connection with New York, physically and through a design language that subtly references the industry and grit of the city. By creating an adaptable space, where creativity and culture can thrive, and that also functions as an artistic representation of the future of finance, AB’s new workplace signals to clients that they are ready for whatever future the market brings next.
