Gensler Sydney’s retail design team collaborated with Sephora’s APAC regional design retail team to deliver a unique fit-out in the iconic Washington H. Soul Pattinson building located at 160 Pitt Street in Sydney. The heritage property was built for Soul Pattinson in 1885, the site of the company’s first store. The building was rebuilt in 1877 following a fire and underwent later modernization in early 2004.
Gensler’s role in the project included evolving an internally endorsed concept design plan for the new retail space through design development, tender, and construction documentation phases, ensuring compliance with local codes and coordination with the base building. Gensler’s design team was responsible for the design of the upper two floors, which include a series of co-working offices, training rooms, staff amenities, and back-of-house storage.
