Challenge

Nashville’s ongoing building boom has created a surge in demand for commercial interiors, including office furniture and design solutions. This rapid development has opened opportunities for new players to enter the market and offer fresh alternatives to traditional furniture dealerships. In a time when experiential showrooms can stand out in a crowded market by delivering spaces where designers and consumers can engage and connect, Officeworks saw an opportunity to provide an alternative furniture dealership as part of its three-stage expansion plan into Southern markets.

Solution

Officeworks’ distinctive showroom design solves a need for an experience-driven furniture dealership in a rapidly growing market by blending raw, imperfect materials with refined detailing. This approach celebrates the natural character and warmth of the wood, while elevating the showroom beyond a typical commercial setting. The result is an authentic, sustainable solution where structural integrity and aesthetic appeal work in harmony. This new space creates a clear division between public hospitality areas and private collaborative areas, balancing entertainment with focused work environments.

Impact

Officeworks Nashville reimagines the traditional trade-only showroom by creating a social club for designers and customers with an edgy, gritty aesthetic that channels the city’s rebellious spirit and rich music heritage. The distinctive showroom breaks from conventional dealership models with its bold materials and club-like atmosphere. The space also serves as a venue for private events, education, and networking, providing an experience, not just a place to browse furniture. The project also significantly reduces its environmental impact by using mass timber materials.
