Across the U.S., airlines and financial institutions are competing to deliver premium, bespoke airport lounges with elevated amenities that drive loyalty and meet the needs of modern travelers. Gensler’s latest Consumer Experience Report finds that more than any other factor, quality is what drives memorable experiences, followed by exceptional service and a welcoming atmosphere. Delta Airlines sought to create a new lounge experience for discerning travelers — a luxurious, yet functional environment that would provide a sense of escape and rejuvenation.
Gensler drew on Delta’s deep customer insights to develop a new brand standard: the Delta One Lounge. Designed for Delta’s flagship locations at New York John F. Kennedy Airport, Los Angeles International Airport, and Boston Logan Airport, each lounge offers a serene, sophisticated retreat amid the bustle of the terminal. The concept blends modern elegance with warm hospitality, creating distinct zones tailored to a range of passenger needs. While united by a consistent vision, no two Delta One Lounges are exactly alike. Each space incorporates subtle nods to its city, with thoughtful, locally inspired details.
The Delta One Lounges set a new benchmark for luxury airport lounges. The design has been praised by prominent travel and business media for its unparalleled comfort, luxury, and integration of local elements that create a strong sense of place for millions of travelers. By developing an experience blueprint that honored Delta’s focus on personalized solutions and traveler goals, the design team delivered luxury environments and services in a thoughtful, modern, and authentic way.
