As life sciences companies scale globally, the pressure to connect distributed teams without sacrificing culture or well-being has become a defining design challenge. For Edwards Lifesciences, a patient-focused medical innovator operating across 35+ locations worldwide, connecting global research teams is imperative to its life-saving discoveries. As its Irvine campus rapidly expanded, the organization needed to create workspaces and amenities that balanced focused work with human connection, embedded wellness as an everyday experience, and felt welcoming rather than institutional.
At the heart of the design is a 300-seat auditorium anchored by a 92-foot curved LED screen, creating a full-scale virtual presence for global teams. A range of workplace and amenity environments extends that sense of connection throughout the campus. A biophilic green wall brings the calming benefits of nature indoors, while a campus fitness center provides spaces for workers to connect and recharge. Across the office, auditorium, and R&D environments, every space is designed to make wellness feel intrinsic.
The campus strengthens Edwards Lifesciences’ ability to recruit, retain, and connect talent across its global network. Consistent workplace standards help the company scale thoughtfully as the campus grows. The hybrid auditorium delivers equitable learning experiences for in-person and remote participants, dissolving barriers between teams and enabling them to innovate collaboratively across the globe. The campus reinforces Edwards’ commitment to improving lives, starting with the people who work there.
