Challenge

As hybrid work reshapes corporate real estate, organizations face increasing pressure to justify the commute and maximize the value of their physical workplaces. Employees now expect offices to offer experiences unavailable at home — spaces that foster learning, connection, and team culture. At the same time, companies must do more with existing assets, balancing cost efficiency with environments that support evolving ways of working.

Solution

Rather than centering the workplace around assigned desks, Gensler designed Indeed’s 125,000-square-foot Stamford office around experience. The workplace spans two interconnected buildings, and a network of internal stairs connects training, dining, meeting, and social destinations into a cohesive ecosystem. A multifunctional community hub anchors the ground floor, while flexible learning environments, hospitality-inspired amenities, and a design language rooted in Stamford’s American Impressionist heritage create a workplace equally suited for large-scale training and everyday team connection.

Impact

The office has become a destination designed around what employees cannot access remotely: shared experiences, continuous learning, and meaningful interaction. By prioritizing hospitality over traditional workplace conventions, Gensler transformed a fragmented footprint into a connected environment that supports culture-building at scale. The project demonstrates how thoughtful, cost-conscious design can help organizations increase the value of their real estate while creating a workplace that hybrid employees actively choose to use.
