Digital-first brands expanding globally face a defining challenge: translating a visually rich online identity into a physical workplace. Gensler’s 2025 Global Workplace Survey found that just 14% of workers want a traditional corporate environment — most crave nature retreats, creative labs, and spaces that feel like home. For Pinterest, strengthening its Australian footprint meant meeting that challenge in a new cultural context. The team sought a workplace rooted in Australian culture that reflected the platform’s unique ethos of creativity and personal inspiration.
Gensler designed Pinterest’s Sydney office as a vibrant, flexible space for teams, creators, and partners. Inspired by a journey through Australia, the design comes to life across four distinct zones, each telling its own story, from lush coastal landscapes in the servery and conference rooms to beach vibes in the reception and breakout rooms. From Indigenous artworks to Australian-designed furniture sourced on Pinterest, the space blends personal storytelling with Pinterest’s brand promise to “create a life you love.”
The space is unmistakably Pinterest, yet deeply Australian. By honouring the country’s cultural and ecological heritage alongside the brand’s ethos of personal inspiration, the design gives employees, creators, and collaborators a space to be inspired. With a mix of flexible environments and quiet retreat zones, the workplace acts as an extension of home and a stage for ideas that define Pinterest’s culture. The office is a springboard for creativity and community, positioning Pinterest for its next phase of growth in Australia.
